Academic Support System

There are so many academic support system in SMA Laboratorium UNSYIAH.  Different stakeholders who invested in the welfare and success of a school and its student including school administration, teachers, staff members, parents, students, community members and other such as Local organizations and government organization is highly observed. For example the school administration, they are the one who are capable of the process of planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the school curriculum if it is effective and efficient. They are also the one who oversee the daily operations of the school. Teachers, of course is the key persons of transforming or giving the needed content knowledge of the student. Staff members support the need of the school in terms of the synchronization of the whole process and output and they have specific role given by the school administration for the school to function well. Parents are the one who gives financial, moral support to the students. Students are the one who will much benefit the academic system that has been prepared to them. They are the responsible of receiving content knowledge and even creating new ideas from nothing to something. Community members, local and government organization supports the academic system of the school by donating projects, giving financial assistance and support, implementing activities that will cater the needs of the students.

These different academic support system caters all the needs of the entire school for improvement and maintenance of a better teaching and learning process.

Teaching Systems

Varied teaching systems are used in teaching and learning process depending on the needs of the student and also depends on the topic to teach. One of it is what we called team teaching. Team teaching is a group of teachers, working as a team and teaching. I actually experienced it but not using my field of specialization. We taught English particularly oral communication. We are actually 5 SEA Teachers in front of class and then talk one-by-one.

Another teaching systems I highly observed is the personal teaching. Personal teacher is a teaching assistant or someone who helps a student catch up in a subject. During break times, some of the students are in the teacher’s room and a teacher is beside them and have an assisted teaching.

Labschool Unsyiah implements also a learning and teaching system that is slightly different from other high schools in Aceh. One of them is the 'moving class' system. Students transfer to another class each time their class is finished. This creates different surroundings every day and prevents students from becoming bored with a static atmosphere in school. – wiki.

IMG20190204165312.jpg

Materials and other learning resources are available at SMA Laboraturium UNSYIAH. Technology related materials such as printers, projectors, speakers, microphone, connectors, extension wires, whiteboard and etc. are very much available for everyday used. Learning resources that can be find in the chemistry and physics room are also be observed. There are also some computer and multimedia room that is a better medium of learning. Textbooks written in Bahasa Indonesia, English and bilingual textbooks are available also in their very conducive learning or award winning school library. Instructional materials, assessment tools are readily available. It is usually can be find inside the teacher’s room and even at their stockroom of school and office supplies.

Different materials and learning resources in each subjects is very accessible. For example in physical education, sports equipment is almost complete. About the sources of the instructions, commonly they have already a syllabus or standards from their department of education and add more content from the textbooks available in the library and even in different educational related internet sites.

Measurement and Evaluation System

Measurement and evaluation procedure is being done after giving some assessments and evaluations. Test questionnaires and activity sheets are commonly used as an instrument in assessing their learning. Evaluation is done every after discussing a lesson. All the results in tests, quizzes and other requirements are added and using also measures of central tendency such as mean.

Teaching Plan of Your Major

These are the example lesson or teaching plans of my mentor used in teaching the First grade of Senior High School (X IPA 1) at SMA Laboratorium UNSYIAH. This serves as my guide in doing also the required lesson plan in my whole teaching experience as a SEA-Teacher at UNSYIAH. As what I observed, these lesson plans are quite different from what I am using in the Philippines particularly at CBSUA - College of Development Education.
